About Lohara Gram Panchayat

Lohara (लोहरा) is a Gram Panchayat (village council) in the Kamasin development block of Banda district, Uttar Pradesh. It comes under Baberu tehsil for revenue administration and is part of the Chitrakoot Division. Its Local Government Directory (LGD) code is 51355.

This page brings together everything a resident or visitor of Lohara usually needs: who the Gram Pradhan, MLA and MP are, which villages make up the panchayat, where the polling booths and nearby facilities are, which welfare schemes apply, and how to get documents such as family register copies, income or caste certificates.

As in most of rural Uttar Pradesh, farming, wheat in the Rabi season and paddy in the Kharif season, depending on the area, along with dairy and wage work under MGNREGA, is the main source of livelihood around Lohara. Households can get a MGNREGA job card from the gram panchayat for up to 100 days of paid work a year, and farmers can register for PM-KISAN and Kisan Credit Cards through the block agriculture office or a Common Service Centre.

Administration

Lohara Gram Panchayat is governed by an elected Gram Pradhan (village head), an Up-Pradhan and ward members, all chosen by the Gram Sabha, every adult registered voter of the panchayat’s villages. Day-to-day records are kept by the Panchayat Secretary (Gram Panchayat Adhikari) posted by Kamasin block, who also registers births and deaths for the panchayat.

Every gram panchayat in Uttar Pradesh is required to form 6 committees: Planning and Development Committee (chaired by the Pradhan), Education Committee, Construction Works Committee, Health and Welfare Committee, Administrative Committee and Water Management Committee. The Gram Sabha must meet at least twice a year (after the Kharif and Rabi harvests) to review the accounts and approve the Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP), which is then uploaded on the eGramSwaraj portal.
