About Jagsar Gram Panchayat

Jagsar (जगसढ़) is a Gram Panchayat (village council) in the Nakaha development block of Lakhimpur Kheri district, Uttar Pradesh. It comes under Lakhimpur tehsil for revenue administration and is part of the Lucknow Division. Its Local Government Directory (LGD) code is 73709.

The panchayat consists of a single revenue village, Zagsar, so the Gram Sabha here is made up of all registered voters of that village.

Jagsar is located roughly 16 km east of the Lakhimpur Kheri headquarters (straight-line distance). Jagsar is about 4.2 km south-east of the centre of Nakaha block. For rail travel, Khiri Town station (around 13 km away) is the closest.

Within Nakaha block there are 73 gram panchayats (and 1,168 across Lakhimpur Kheri district); Jagsar is one of them. Its voters elect their MLA from the Lakhimpur assembly constituency and its MP from the Kheri Lok Sabha constituency.

This page brings together everything a resident or visitor of Jagsar usually needs: who the Gram Pradhan, MLA and MP are, which villages make up the panchayat, where the polling booths and nearby facilities are, which welfare schemes apply, and how to get documents such as family register copies, income or caste certificates.

As in most of rural Uttar Pradesh, farming, wheat in the Rabi season and paddy in the Kharif season, depending on the area, along with dairy and wage work under MGNREGA, is the main source of livelihood around Jagsar. Administration

Jagsar Gram Panchayat is governed by an elected Gram Pradhan (village head), an Up-Pradhan and ward members, all chosen by the Gram Sabha, every adult registered voter of the panchayat’s villages. Day-to-day records are kept by the Panchayat Secretary (Gram Panchayat Adhikari) posted by Nakaha block, who also registers births and deaths for the panchayat.

Every gram panchayat in Uttar Pradesh is required to form 6 committees: Planning and Development Committee (chaired by the Pradhan), Education Committee, Construction Works Committee, Health and Welfare Committee, Administrative Committee and Water Management Committee. The Gram Sabha must meet at least twice a year (after the Kharif and Rabi harvests) to review the accounts and approve the Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP), which is then uploaded on the eGramSwaraj portal.
