About Rangpur Gram Panchayat

Rangpur (रंगपुर) is a village-level local government (Gram Panchayat) in Kishni block, Mainpuri district of Uttar Pradesh. For land and revenue matters it falls in Kishni tehsil, and the district belongs to the Agra Division. The official LGD code of this panchayat is 77619.

The panchayat consists of a single revenue village, Rangpur, so the Gram Sabha here is made up of all registered voters of that village.

From Mainpuri headquarters, Rangpur is approximately 42 km away in the east direction. Rangpur is about 12 km east of the centre of Kishni block. For rail travel, B L Daspuri station (around 28 km away) is the closest.

Within Kishni block there are 62 gram panchayats (and 552 across Mainpuri district); Rangpur is one of them. Its voters elect their MLA from the Kishani assembly constituency and its MP from the Mainpuri Lok Sabha constituency.

This page brings together everything a resident or visitor of Rangpur usually needs: who the Gram Pradhan, MLA and MP are, which villages make up the panchayat, where the polling booths and nearby facilities are, which welfare schemes apply, and how to get documents such as family register copies, income or caste certificates.

As in most of rural Uttar Pradesh, farming, wheat in the Rabi season and paddy in the Kharif season, depending on the area, along with dairy and wage work under MGNREGA, is the main source of livelihood around Rangpur. Households can get a MGNREGA job card from the gram panchayat for up to 100 days of paid work a year, and farmers can register for PM-KISAN and Kisan Credit Cards through the block agriculture office or a Common Service Centre.

Administration

Under the Uttar Pradesh Panchayat Raj Act, 1947, Rangpur is run by its elected Gram Pradhan together with the Up-Pradhan and the members of each ward. The Gram Sabha of all adult voters approves the annual plan and the list of scheme beneficiaries, while the Panchayat Secretary (Gram Panchayat Adhikari) assigned by the Kishni block office keeps the Parivar Register (family register), the accounts and the birth-death register.

Every gram panchayat in Uttar Pradesh is required to form 6 committees: Planning and Development Committee (chaired by the Pradhan), Education Committee, Construction Works Committee, Health and Welfare Committee, Administrative Committee and Water Management Committee. The Gram Sabha must meet at least twice a year (after the Kharif and Rabi harvests) to review the accounts and approve the Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP), which is then uploaded on the eGramSwaraj portal.
