About Sapaha Gram Panchayat

Sapaha (सपहा) is a village-level local government (Gram Panchayat) in Puranpur block, Pilibhit district of Uttar Pradesh. For land and revenue matters it falls in Kalinagar tehsil, and the district belongs to the Bareilly Division. The official LGD code of this panchayat is 82286.

The panchayat consists of a single revenue village, Sapha, so the Gram Sabha here is made up of all registered voters of that village.

By straight-line distance, Sapaha lies about 23 km to the south-east of Pilibhit headquarters. Sapaha is about 15 km south-east of the centre of Puranpur block. For rail travel, Kurraiya station (around 4.1 km away) is the closest.

Within Puranpur block there are 189 gram panchayats (and 721 across Pilibhit district); Sapaha is one of them. Its voters elect their MLA from the Powayan assembly constituency and its MP from the Shahjahanpur Lok Sabha constituency.

This page brings together everything a resident or visitor of Sapaha usually needs: who the Gram Pradhan, MLA and MP are, which villages make up the panchayat, where the polling booths and nearby facilities are, which welfare schemes apply, and how to get documents such as family register copies, income or caste certificates.

As in most of rural Uttar Pradesh, farming, wheat in the Rabi season and paddy in the Kharif season, depending on the area, along with dairy and wage work under MGNREGA, is the main source of livelihood around Sapaha. Administration

Sapaha Gram Panchayat is governed by an elected Gram Pradhan (village head), an Up-Pradhan and ward members, all chosen by the Gram Sabha, every adult registered voter of the panchayat’s villages. Day-to-day records are kept by the Panchayat Secretary (Gram Panchayat Adhikari) posted by Puranpur block, who also registers births and deaths for the panchayat.

Every gram panchayat in Uttar Pradesh is required to form 6 committees: Planning and Development Committee (chaired by the Pradhan), Education Committee, Construction Works Committee, Health and Welfare Committee, Administrative Committee and Water Management Committee. The Gram Sabha must meet at least twice a year (after the Kharif and Rabi harvests) to review the accounts and approve the Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP), which is then uploaded on the eGramSwaraj portal.
